I am afraid that I am not very good on some technical features, such as replying to messages, but here's trying. Junipera Serra was without doubt a Franciscan. However, the use of O.F.M., I am convinced, but can't quote a book that will say so, is a later abbreviation not in use in Junipera's time. The history of the different branches of the Franciscans is complex. I looked into it a long time ago. It seemed to me, therefore to use the term where you did was anachronistic. This is not to comment on the quality of the rest of the article or to say anything bad about Junipera. I havn't the possibility of look up material now, but I seem to remember that the present Order of Friars Minor (so not the Conventuals, Capuchins or Third Order Regular) were one of the initiatives of Pope Leo XIII, who had a certain yen for organization and rationalization. He did something similar with the Benedictines, etc. In the case of the Franciscans, Leo brought together a number of branches hitherto separate. Presumably he would have liked to include all Franciscan friars in one Order but couldn't manage it. As to abbreviations, even older books in English about Franciscans (i.e. pre-Leo) use abbreviations like O.S.F.

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Stop deleting agreed language from naming conventions.
I don't know who you are, but as to this message, it is a bit thick. First of all, it is not my last warning, it is my first. Then, I have never done any vandalism, only improved texts on an entirely rational basis in things I know a good deal about. It seems to me that there are people around that don't like free speech. The stuff on this Catholicism disamb. page is an entirely justified and entirely minor modification. The origin of the term Catholic would be treated by any logical treatment to examine first its use in early Christianity (given that we seem to be on safe territory (or is that a crime too?) supposing that the beginning of something comes before its end). I moved an item to square this. Apparently it does not please the thought police. This sort of intolerance is pretty petty and pretty hard to take. Maybe the people who seem to run this system should check out whoever put this notice on. Maybe they are not feeling too well. Jimmy Wales is putting up appeal pages with stuff like "This is a radical strike at the heart of an increasingly shallow, proprietary and anti-intellectual culture". Some radical strike with these people around!!! The Proprietarians!!!
