[edit] The Story
Based on Stephen King's short story from Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales, Mike Enslin is an author of the paranormal, riding high on the success of his last three published works. With such success under his belt, Mike believes he's unstoppable in proving the myth of supernatural as a hoax. Whether it be sleeping in a supposedly haunted house or bunking right next to the grave of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, there's nothing Enslin won't encounter for a story. Now, he's about to take on a new challenge by sleeping in a room numbered 1408 of the Hotel Dolphin in New York City. With his lawyer's persistence and his sheer determination, Mike is ready to test the supposed myth of this allegedly haunted room, which has seen its share of suicides, murders and countless health problems for anyone whose visited 1408 but not occupied it. Although the hotel manager, Olin, warns him against visiting the room, Enslin continues with his pursuit anyway. But as Mike will soon find out, not all myths are false, and not all supernatural tales involve a survivor as this one guest is about to have an unforgettable time in 1408.
