Play in Group C of the 2006 FIFA World Cup completed on June 21, 2006. Argentina won the group, and advanced to the second round, along with Netherlands The two sides tied for points in the standings, but Argentina won the tie-break on goal difference, and so won the group with the Netherlands in second place. Côte d'Ivoire and Serbia & Montenegro failed to advance.
