West Wildwood is a borough in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the 'Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area'. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 448.

West Wildwood is a small vacationing city packed with hotels, marinas, and restaurants.

West Wildwood is located at 39°0′1″N, 74°49′26″W (39.000209, -74.823945)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (25.71%) is water.

West Wildwood borders North Wildwood City, Wildwood City, and Middle Township.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 448 people, 202 households, and 117 families residing in the borough. The population density was 665.3/km² (1,698.0/mi²). There were 775 housing units at an average density of 1,150.9/km² (2,937.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 95.76% White, 0.22% Asian, 2.23% from other races, and 1.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.79% of the population.

There were 202 households out of which 20.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.0% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.6% were non-families. 36.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the borough the population was spread out with 18.8% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 32.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $33,393, and the median income for a family was $50,625. Males had a median income of $38,281 versus $21,190 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $17,839. About 3.2% of families and 6.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.4% of those under age 18 and 5.6% of those age 65 or over.

West Wildwood is in the Second Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 1st Legislative District[2].

New Jersey's Second Congressional District, covering all of Atlantic County, Cape May County, Cumberland County and Salem County and portions of Burlington County, Camden County and Gloucester County, is represented by Frank LoBiondo (R, Vineland). New Jersey is represented in the Senate by Frank Lautenberg (D, Cliffside Park) and Robert Menendez (D, Hoboken).

The 1st legislative district of the New Jersey Legislature is represented in the State Senate by Nicholas Asselta (R) and in the Assembly by Nelson Albano (D, Vineland) and Jeff Van Drew (D, Dennis Township). The Governor of New Jersey is Jon Corzine (D, Hoboken).

Cape May County is governed by a five-member Board of Chosen Freeholders. Cape May County's Freeholders are Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel (term expires December 31, 2008), Freeholder Vice-Director Ralph E. Sheets, Jr. (2008), Ralph E. Bakley, Sr. (2007), Leonard C. Desiderio (2006) and Gerald M. Thornton (2007).

West Wildwood is a non-operating school district. Public school students in West Wildwood attend school in Wildwood as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Wildwood Public School District.
