[edit] Personal InformationI'm a teenager from British North America, alternatively known as the Dominion of Canada, or perhaps just Canada. I live in Kingston, Ontario (two hours east of Toronto), learning Canadian English as my first language, French as my second, and Dutch, Hebrew, and German as my third, fourth, and fifth. I'm nowhere near proficient at Dutch, Hebrew, or German, but I'd like to have a touristy ability in Hebrew and perhaps a working knowledge of Dutch and German by the time I graduate from university. My French is barely useful in foreign countries (but in Quebec, it is!). I am a fanatical anti-vandalism editor, a recent changes patroller, a grammar/formatting/spelling hawk, a professional wikifier, and sometimes a real, old-fashioned writer. I graduated from London Central Secondary School, and I'm currently at Queens University. I'm in a dual degree program, earning a BComm and a BA after five years. I plan to specialize in finance (for the BComm) and I'll be majoring in economics in the BA. [edit] HobbiesPerhaps my favourite pastime is reading- I devote hours of my time to it every day. I read a variety of sources. In fiction, I prefer various subgenres of historical fiction, drama, sometimes scifi or even the odd thriller. In non-fiction, I do much of my reading in religious texts and religious books, philosophy, history, economics, political science, and current affairs. I also subscribe to and read several newsmagazines, including Time Canada, Macleans, Newsweek, and The Economist. I have quite a few interests, including:
I enjoy games, like Counter-Strike: Source (I started on 1.4), SimCity 4, Half-Life 2, and the Civilization series (I have successively played Civilization 2, Civilization 3 and Civilization 4). I also enjoy tabletop strategy board games like Axis and Allies and Stratego. However, school takes I primarily listen to hip-hop, especially artists from Definitive Jux and Anticon. There is a certain allure to a genre of music that redefines itself with every new album. I also listen to Romantic music, jazz, and indie rock. I studied classical and jazz piano for eight years or so, and I also know how to play the double bass. In terms of sports, I used to swim competitively. I have been skiing for fourteen years, and I teach skiing at Beaver Valley Ski Club in Collingwood, Ontario during the winter months. I took up trapshooting in 2005 and it has been a very satisfying (but expensive) sport. I hope to learn how to play golf better in the future. [edit] Useful user-page Links
