Hello, I'm Andre. I joined Wikipedia in June 2003 and I have over 10,000 edits. I have been an administrator since September 2004. I am also an advocate and a mediator. I am a member of the Welcoming committee, and I have welcomed many users. I'm an active member of WikiProject Computer and video games, as well as a member of WikiProject Computing, WikiProject New York City, WikiProject Kindness Campaign, and the Version 1.0 Editorial Team.

I ripped off this awesome user page layout from Joseph Dwayne's brilliant but no longer active edit to Jimbo Wales's user page. I liked it so much, I stole it.

[edit] Vandalism

This page has been vandalized two times by 207.99.6.125 and then again and again by him under the name DG. Despite this, he is actually my friend. A guy who I don't know, User:Orangeness, vandalized this page in a mass admin userpage vandalism spree. Anonymous user 205.146.72.156 vandalized my page for some reason too. Also, User:Hyperbole arguably vandalized this page, in that he added his name to a list of people who had vandalized the page, which was technically an untrue statement until he actually did it. I was also vandalized by Kayrop, a friend of mine, but the damage was null except for some grammatical errors, though he was thoroughly punished in the form of a slap in the face. This page was once vandalized by 12.38.241.129, and it was also twice vandalized by 166.109.0.180, and once by 64.252.39.165, who I subsequently blocked. Someone claiming to be Ashida Kim also vandalised my page, as 64.12.116.204.

I don't know anyone who treats Bill Clinton's biography as their holy book, either. I don't know anyone who believes that the existence of France is a myth. I don't know anyone who believes that cars are a foodstuff. That's why I'm not about to start editing those articles with comments like "Believers in the existence of France claim that it is a country located in Western Europe..." and then defend them on the basis of NPOV. • Religiously, I am an Atheist (meaning I lack belief in any god or gods, it's a position I've thought about seriously, but I'm open to new ideas), a Jew (meaning that I was Bar Mitzvah'd, I celebrate Hannukah, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, and so on), and a Secular Humanist.
• Demographically, I am a white straight male in the upper middle class economic bracket. I live in a suburban neighborhood in affluent Westchester, New York (though I am not an unusually wealthy person) where crime is uncommon.
• Politically, I am a liberal Democrat who supported Howard Dean and subsequently John Kerry for U.S. president in 2004. Prior to that, I supported Al Gore and Bill Clinton. I support Barack Obama for 2008, if he chooses to run, and I would vote for Hilary Clinton if she ran for president. I think Eliot Spitzer would be a brilliant president, if he runs. I have many socially libertarian views: I am pro-choice when it comes to most things, specifically abortion, I support the right to privacy and oppose the controversial PATRIOT act, and I believe that legalizing marijuana would be of benefit to the U.S. social landscape, though I would not partake in it myself. I am, however, pro-gun control, and I believe only hunting weapons should be allowed in the hands of the general population. I emphatically support the separation of church and state. Because of this, I believe that marriage, gay or straight, should be deregulated by the government, with all legal constraints and/or benefits on what is inherently a religious process removed. I believe that Israel and a Palestinian state can coexist, with Jerusalem as a U.N.-governed neutral area. I opposed and continue to oppose George W. Bush's war in Iraq.
• Computing-wise, I am an open source and Linux advocate, and I believe that Microsoft makes a large number of shoddy products. My computer is setup as a dual-boot system with Gentoo Linux and Windows XP. I use the nano/pico text editor and graphical editors like gedit and TextPad alternately.
• In matters Wikimedia-related, I'm a relative inclusionist and an eventualist, though I do believe that non-notable and vanity pages have no place in the Wikipedia. So you can get an idea as to my deletion-related views, see User:Andrevan/deletion.
• My MBTI type is ENTP, and this is extraordinarily accurate. Althought in the past I have taken MBTI tests that have yielded other results, and for a while I thought I was an INTP, I'm definitely an ENTP. ENTP characterists that I have: I am verbally quick, clever, absentminded, easily distracted, and frequently engaged in many ideas and projects at once. I love a good debate or discussion. I procrastinate frequently. I thrive on innovation, improvement, and experimentation.
