I am a high school student Akira (born on August 7, 1989), 17 years old, especially wishing to tell you something about Japanese culture.

I have had for many years a dream to become a pediatric in Japan, so I have and will have to study lots more on, which I am not sure I could successfully go through were it not for teachers, friends and both parents of mine's kind support.

My Holy Grail is to devote myself to working with Doctors without borders for better, at least safer lives to lead for many children in African nations. I recently have come to find the Japanese society less aware of the importance of children, whom they will have to rely upon. They are always asking for "much more pension benefits without working so much". I would say it's stupid to spend more money in the way rather than education of children, since I think that it is every single child, not aged person, that could change the current evil direction that human beings are walking in. However, I still think that I should always be searching for any way I could be on to help those children get free of fear they are facing, at this very moment.

Yes, I came across Wikipedia originally in Japanese. At that time I had little ability of foreign language since I was only 11 years old. I have studied hard since then and been looking forward to putting my ability in use. So I began to take part in the Wikipedia project :) Now I usually work on translating some articles in English into Japanese.

[edit] At a glance

Akira, whom I am going to refer to,

  • was given birth to in Niigata, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
  • lives in a city which is 40 kilometers northbound away from the city of Niigata.
  • goes to Niigata Minami(Southern Niigata) high school.
  • is planning to get in Kyoto University in Kyoto.
  • weighs 68 kilograms, approximately 150 pounds, and is 178 centimeters high (5 feet and 10 inches).
  • usually speaks Japanese. It's the mother tongue of his.
  • is wishing to be of help to you learning something about Japanese language or Japanese culture. Interested in either of them and not finding an article for what you were looking for? Don't hesitate to tell me!
  • also speaks English and hopes to get many kinds of experiences through doing so.
  • is able to use English at an advanced level but not so precisely. Anyway I will do my best.
  • tends to write a lot in German as well as English but not able to properly :p
  • likes doing volleyball, pole vaulting very much.
  • has only once been to the Japanese National Junior High School Athletics Competition on pole vaulting. I was never qualified to the final, though.
  • has a self record in pole vaulting of 4.10 meters (approximately 13 feet and 4 inches).
  • covers 100 meters(110 yards) in 11.9 seconds.

[edit] Languages

  1. Japanese: I'm a native speaker of Japanese language. I think it beautiful in that it features Kanji and a remarkable writing system which often runs vertically (of course it also runs horizontally. Actually, they are chosen to suit the place on which to write interchangeably. Have you ever seen them? I'm sure it will surprise you). I love Japanese language and will conserve it.
  2. English: This is the first foreign language of mine. Actually, In Japan it is compulsory for any children over the age of 12 to have English classes in their Junior High schools. I'm not sure when I started studying it personally. I only remember that when I was three or four my parents gave me a cartoon videotape in which my favorite charactors were speaking all in English. I can even remember all the words they spoke in the story :)
  3. German: I have been studied German for a year. I'm not yet so good at using it, but it really made me realize the fun I can experience when I became able to read something, write something and communicate through it :)

[edit] Articles I have been concerned in

I have translated the following articles into Japanese language.

Plus, I'm planning to translate some Japanese-cultural articles into English which seem less profound than those of Japanese edition.

Feel free to see ja:利用者:あきら ◆777777779w for further information. Note that it's written in Japanese, making it sometimes difficult for your system to show the charactors properly.
