Introduction
I have been an occasional contributor to Wikipedia since January 2004. I am a member of the Biography WikiProject and Anglicanism Wikiproject, as well as the groups of Wikipedians interested in Denmark and Wikipedians interested in Scotland.
My main interests
My interests are many and various. Although not a linguist, I am interested in languages, particularly the development of English from Old Danish and the dialects associated with the Lowland languages. I'm also interested in Genealogy and Family history, particularly of the Porteous family and its members, the History of Scotland and Scottish families, and their Emigration to Canada and the USA.
Other interests are the various forms of Evangelical Christianity, the Abolition of Slavery, the history of newspapers and other publications, Typography and Graphic design, as well as Archaeology, the Apple Mac (especially Mac OS X), Astronomy and the history of Space travel and exploration.
I am currently writing a biography of Beilby Porteus, Bishop of London, especially regarding his involvement in the campaign against the British Slave trade.
Location
Based in North Norfolk, England, I am an adopted East Anglian and am interested especially in the Local history and Archaeology of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, although my fascination spreads also to the language, culture and people of Denmark. I enjoy Film and the music of Simon and Garfunkel, Aimee Mann, Enya and Björk.
Career to date
A member of the so-called Baby-boomer generation, I have for many years worked in Printing, Graphic design, Publishing and Web design and, more recently in ICT and Education. I now work for a UK government department.

Apart from the biographies listed below, I have begun or contributed to articles about Jante Law in Denmark, the Clapham Sect and other abolitionists, as well as Slavery, Abolitionism, the Atlantic Slave Trade and the Georgian era.
