Revolution
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
A Revolution is a very sharp change made to something. The word comes from Latin, and has common roots with revolve (which also means to turn around). Revolutions are usually political in their nature. Some people feel unhappy with their current situation in life. They band together, share their ideas, and make a revolution. Most of the times, revolutions involve fighting, and civil unrest. However there are also revolutions that are done without fighting. The Soviet Union fell apart into its different republics without fighting. In the French Revolution, fighting was involved to a great extent. Some years following the revolution of 1789 are called the Reign of Terror by many historians (because of this fighting).
The term RPM stands for revolutions per minute. It indicates how often a disc (usually a Compact disc, DVD or vinyl disc turns around in one minute.
