Wikipedia:Sister projects
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- To link sister projects using traditional inline text links see Wikipedia:Interwikimedia link.
This page lists templates that are designed to provide article-to-article linking between Wikipedia and its Wikimedia sister projects. It also provides links to pages concerning moving articles between projects.

[edit] Guidelines
Wikipedia encourages links to sister projects and interlanguage links when possible. However, links to sister projects should not be inserted excessively.
Convention is to include each reference, link, or definition only once within an article, at the first appropriate point. Links to sister projects are best placed in the section of the article to which they relate, if possible; otherwise, they are usually placed in the External links section (not the "See also" section). For example, a link to Wikiquote might be placed next to any discussion of quotations, and a link to Wikinews next to the event that is sourced. In some cases, such as disambiguation articles, they are best placed in the article's introduction. See below for a complete rundown.
If sister project name is Foo:
- {{Copy to Foo}} - move/copy to Foo
- {{Foo}} - article in Foo with same title is about the same topic.
- {{Foopar|Pagename}} - Pagename in Foo is about the same topic.
- par is used generally in the template name to point to a concrete page name in a sister project (i.e. {{wikiquotepar|somepage}}). If a number is used, it indicates the numbers of links (i.e. <nowiki>{{wikiquotepar2|somepage1|somepage2}} , to link to two pages).
